In Our Town…. Is an invitation to see our wonderful community through the eyes of visual artists in the Bitterroot Valley. There is so much diversity in the valley; towns, ranches, mountains, wildlife, rivers and big skies and the Montana spirit reflected in the faces of the people. An artist can easily be inspired every moment as the light, colors and space reflect an ever-changing landscape and human experience.

Artists along the Bitterroot is a nonprofit coalition of visual artists. They are sponsoring this Art Show, In Our Town at the Montana Bliss Artworks Gallery, located at 101 S. 7th Street, running through March 6th, 2021.  In addition to Artists Along the Bitterroot members, guest artists from the area have been invited. A total of twenty artists will be represented, each piece a signature work showing the artists talents and creativity in their chosen medium.

Jennifer Ogden, will be showing her piece entitled Life After Life at Nightfall. These are her thoughts:

“If there is a silver lining during a time of grievous upheaval, it is that contained inside the walls of our home—an indulgence of family time; something I didn’t think I could ever hope to have again. There is also more solitude, and much more wistful gazing out the windows in curious appreciation, which is tempered a little by naive imagining. This time of staying home plays out in my community case by case. I miss my neighbors and my elders, and the fragile vibrancy of my little town now encased in shadow.”

Dulcie Belanger will be showing her clay sculpture pieces entitled: Cottonwood Community, the Gathering. She envisions the stately Montana Cottonwoods in human form gathered as if they are expressing their strength and endurance in hard times.

Artist Roberta Burruss is showing her watercolor piece Gallery Night. It is a beautiful rendition of downtown Hamilton at night; reflected light and color capture a moment in time in a busy town.

Artists along the Bitterroot artist, Barbara Liss, has created a sculpture of a prominent local businesswoman entitled Someone You Know.  The challenge during the show will be to guess who that woman is?? All you need to do is submit your name entry and a drawing will determine the winner of a $100 gift certificate for Montana Bliss Artworks Gallery.

The final question is how do you see your community? Sometimes we take it for granted.  An artistic eye can highlight the beauty and vibrancy of life in the Bitterroot Valley to rejuvenate your own vision of what is in the world around you.

Artists Along the Bitterroot has always supported community art programs especially for youth. All artists participating in this show will be donating 50% of all sales to youth art programs in the Bitterroot. The Art community in the Bitterroot is growing every year. The artists need your support, please stop by Montana Bliss Artworks Gallery from 11 to 3 PM daily and enjoy this wonderful tribute to the visual arts. In Our Town!
